Dublin Beer Festival: Case Study

Dublin Beer Festival: Case Study

5/29/2025Case Study

Digital success for a popular festival's return

When craft beer enthusiasts Bruce Mansour and Seamus O'Hara sought to revive the Dublin Beer Festival after a Covid-induced hiatus, they faced the challenge of adapting to a dramatically changed digital landscape. Having successfully run the festival since 2019 with Grey Dog's support, they knew exactly where to turn for help to revive their festival in this new terrain.

From word-of-mouth to social media

The festival's primary hurdles centred around embracing the digital transformation that had accelerated during their absence. The founders recognised they needed expert guidance; the festival had thrived on personal connections and word-of-mouth but now needed to master social media marketing, create an engaging online presence, and build a seamless digital ticket-buying experience.

With an ambitious target of 3,000 ticket sales, the festival needed to transform its approach to reach both loyal festival-goers and new craft beer enthusiasts.

The plan: website, marketing, on-site setup

Drawing on our previous partnership with the festival, we crafted a comprehensive 12-week strategy that would blend the event's community spirit with cutting-edge digital marketing. Our team developed a new festival website that captured the event's vibrant atmosphere while making ticket purchases effortless.

We orchestrated targeted social media and Meta advertising campaigns, maintaining the festival's authentic voice while embracing new digital channels. Plus, we managed the event from planning right through to on-site setup.

Build anticipation and drive sales

The project's success stemmed from our ability to bridge the gap between traditional event management and digital marketing. Every piece of content, every advertisement, and every social media post was crafted to build anticipation and drive ticket sales.

Our team remained agile, continuously optimising campaigns based on real-time data while ensuring the festival's authentic character remained at the heart of all communications.
